Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras King of Peace celebrated the last day before Lent with a traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. The day is also known as Mardi Gras, meaning Fat Tuesday, because when Lent was kept more strictly, people ate up the lard, eggs and other things they would be giving up in Lent. Lent is the 46 days (40 days + 6 Sundays) leading up to Easter. It is a time for self examination and preparation for the joy of Easter. Click on any picture to see a larger version of it. |
